What is the Pathya chart maker?

The Pathya chart maker is a free online tool for Ayurveda doctors to make a printed diet chart for a patient. It lists Pathya (foods to take) and Apathya (foods to avoid) for each food group, a daily routine with meal times, and lifestyle advice (Vihara), on one A4 page with your clinic letterhead.

What the chart includes

  • Pathya and Apathya for grains, pulses, vegetables, fruits, milk and dairy, oils and fats, spices, and drinks.
  • Daily routine: waking time, breakfast, lunch as the main meal, an evening snack, a light early dinner and bedtime.
  • Lifestyle advice (Vihara): sleep, exercise, Abhyanga and other points for the patient.
  • Patient details: name, age and sex, date, condition and how long to follow the chart.
  • Your letterhead with qualification and registration number, and a signature line.

How to make a diet chart

  • Enter the patient’s name, age, sex and condition.
  • Choose a template: Vata shamaka, Pitta shamaka, Kapha shamaka, or blank.
  • Edit the foods, meal times and advice for this patient. Rows you leave empty are not printed.
  • Click Print / Save PDF and confirm your letterhead details. They are pre-filled after the first time.
  • Hand the printout to the patient, or save it as a PDF and send it on WhatsApp.

About the templates

The Vata, Pitta and Kapha templates follow common Ayurvedic guidance for pacifying each dosha, such as warm, unctuous food for Vata, cooling and non-sour food for Pitta, and light, warm, dry food for Kapha. They are a starting point to save typing, not a prescription. Adjust them for the patient’s Prakriti and Vikriti, Agni, the disease, the season and any other conditions.

For sample Vata, Pitta and Kapha charts, meal timing and incompatible foods, read our guide to writing an Ayurvedic diet chart. To assess Prakriti first, use the free Prakriti Calculator. For writing Pathya advice on the prescription itself, read how to write an Ayurvedic prescription or use the free Prescription Pad.

Frequently asked questions

What is Pathya and Apathya?

Pathya is the diet and lifestyle that supports a patient's treatment and health. Apathya is what the patient should avoid because it works against the treatment. An Ayurvedic diet chart lists both, usually by food group, along with meal times and lifestyle advice.

Is the diet chart maker free?

Yes. It is free, runs in your web browser and needs no installation or account. Before each print, you confirm your clinic name, doctor name and mobile number for the letterhead. They are pre-filled after the first time.

Are the Vata, Pitta and Kapha templates ready to give to patients?

No. The templates are general starting points based on common Ayurvedic guidance for pacifying each dosha. The doctor should edit every chart for the individual patient's Prakriti, Vikriti, Agni, condition and season before printing.

Can I write the diet chart in Hindi or Gujarati?

Yes. Every field can be edited, and you can type in Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi or any language your keyboard supports. The chart prints in the language you type.

Are patient details saved or shared?

No. Patient details stay only on the page you are using and are not saved or sent to our server. Your doctor and clinic details are remembered in your browser so the letterhead is filled in next time.

Can I save the diet chart as a PDF?

Yes. Click Print / Save PDF and choose Save as PDF in your browser's print dialog. The chart is formatted for one A4 page, so you can print it or send the PDF to the patient on WhatsApp.
